9 Books to Read During Quarantine

Most of us have been off work for a while now BECAUSE of COVID-19. I’ve used a lot of this time to do many things around the house but also relax…which includes reading.

I was able to finish 2 books. One I’ve been reading literally FOREVER! And another has probably taken me a good year to read LOL. Honestly…It’s because I’m a slow reader and also when I want to read, I want to digest what I’m reading. I take it like I’m watching a TV show and I want to understand and picture everything that’s happening. With that being said if I’m too tired I don’t read which is usually most of the time while I was working LOL. I tend to read more on vacation while sitting on the beach or in the summer months by my pool (which I no longer have *sigh*). But since being off work I’ve had many hours to enjoy reading my books in my new oasis.

The books that I’ll be sharing with you are all ones I’ve read except one that I am currently reading (and it’s not the find of book I’ve ever read before). I hope on of these catches your eye or encourages you to read more!

Self-Love Club [Vol.1]

This is the book I am currently reading. This book is a combination fo short stories from women who have learned to love themselves through tough measures. I was introduced to this book by on of its authors, Maggie Callaghan - she is a yoga instructor, fertility coach, momma and now author. I’ve never read a book that had short stories…or even an entire book of peoples lives and the struggles they went through to get to where they are today. So far it’s been emotional. I have not personally struggled with nay of the issues these women have faced to that extent but I am happy to empathize with them through their writing. It’s a great learning experience to pass on or digest yourself. If you’re going through certain struggles give this book a go. There are people out there that are going through or have gone through what you are experiencing.

Poetry Reading

Both of these authors is where I was first introduced to poetry. They made me realize the beauty in writing. I have many other poetry books but these two are by far my favourites.

One four three

A book published by my good friend Kevin Wright. An inspiring poet/author that has many books out there and many more to come. I own all of them but this one in particular is a favourite. It’s sexy, full of love and when he writes…you can picture what’s happening. A lot of feels in this book and a great start to poetry reading if you haven’t given it a go already.

Milk and Honey

A classic when it comes to poetry reading Rupi Kaur has influenced readers all around the world. Like most poetry it tells the story of the author. Her stories are super deep and emotional and sometimes are to read.

Dan Brown Books

Yes I like Dan Brown books. After watching the movie The Da Vinci Code I wanted to read more of Robert Langdon’s adventures. (Robert Langdon is the main character in most of Dan Brown’s books). I own the entire Robert Langdon series but I have yet to read them all but so far Angels & Demons is my favourite. I think because of all the ancient history references that I adore learning about are a part of these stories. It’s also a fast pasted and a real cliff hanger that makes you want to keep turning that page.

Dan Brown has two books that are not a part of the Robert Langdon series and one of them is Deception Point. If you like a little sci-fi and things of the unknown then you’ll enjoy this one. It feels like it would be a good book to turn into a mini T.V. series.

one off books that are easy to read

Influenced by social media or I’ve simply walked by them on the shelf and thought that would be a good read.

Seven Brief Lessons on Physics

If you’re into space, time and the wondered how our universe came to be and the theories behind it all then pick this book up! It’s a small little guy that explains the course of physics in laymen’s terms. It’s a quick little read to make you fee like an expert of the universe.

Supermarket

I did not know what to expect at first when reading this book. It felt like a good T.V. show series on Netflix TBH. It has twists and turns that you don’t expect. It’s kind of a thriller which I enjoy.

It

I got influenced to buy this book from social media. I thought it looked cute and it was a good book to have on your coffee table. But one day I actually decided to read it and it was kind of fun! It felt like I was reading someones blog or diary of their life. She documented certain parts of her life to share with her readers. Some of the pages are just straight up photos which I thought was kind of cool. This book was actually one influence for me to start blogging. It is now one to influence me to put my blog into book form in some way…maybe that will happen in the future.

Sphere

After reading a lot of Dan Brown books I was looking for an author that gave me a similar vibe while reading their book. As I’m searching Amazon I discovered the author Michael Crichton - he is actually the author of the Jurassic Park series. I adore the movies and thought he would be a good author to give a try! Sphere was the first one that caught my eye. If you like the X-Files then you’ll like this book and many more that he’s written. I won’t spoil it for any of you but if you’re into unknown technology then give this a read.
