Tattoo #13

It has been 2 years since I got my last tattoo! I had lots of time to think about what I wanted and where to go while the shops were closed. I’m so happy with what i got and I love that I can always see it and admire it.

- About my tattoo -

I got the cutest cluster of stars and dots on my right wrist. I love a galaxy moment and well I always think I sparkle! So why not show a little for that ♡.

I knew I wanted fine line work and for some reason I had a hard time finding an artist in my area that did that sort of work. I finally found one not too far away that offered this style of tattooing.

Location ⇢ Sacred Tattoos in Ajax, ON

Artist ⇢ @shaifak

I haven’t gotten a tattoo in 2 years so I had to prepare myself again for the pain. I don’t find tattoos to be too painful but you DO feel it and IT CAN get irritating and annoying at times; shading and/or long sessions will give you these feels.

My pain tolerance is pretty good I would say. I was able to get through it without sweating buckets; this time my finger tips just got sweaty LOL. It felt like little scratches…a constant sharp nail. If you’ve ever gotten a tattoo you know that sensation doesn’t last long. The needle comes off your skin very often so you can get a sense of relief every few seconds. The most pain I felt was of the 2 stars closest to my thumb as it gets more “boney” there.

- My Experience -

My experience at Sacred Tattoos was great! Shaifa accommodated my design very well and was very nice and talkative through out the tattooing process. I enjoy that in an artist because it also takes the pressure off of the pain of the needle. Her studio was very clean and she was gentle and willing to stop if I was feeling uncomfortable.

Booking here was quit easy. I of course did my research before contacting them of who I was interested in. I sent them an email explaining my idea and with a little bit of coordinating dates, we settled on one and that’s that!

- Tattoo Tips to make your experience smooth -

1) When booking with the studio, be sure to include all the information required for your tattoo in your email. I have been told first hand that it was very appreciated being as thorough as I was in my email. Typically the tattoo studio will ask you for:

  • The design and style of your tattoo -I give them as many inspiration pictures as possible. Sometimes I only want a certain part of that inpso. pic. and so I am sure to highlight that in some way when I send it off.

  • The placement/location on the body - I usually take a picture of my body part and circle the area I want done for accuracy.

  • Colour or black and white tattoo

  • Size of the tattoo

  • The artist you had in mind - If I am unsure of who I would like, I always ask for guidance as to who they think is a good fit.

Be as through as you can as it helps the artist and studio assist you better. Of course you may not know exactly which artist is you’d like but you know you want work done at the studio and typically the studio will help you find the right artist for you!

2) Be sure to research your studio and artist! Some places have set prices; even individual artists have their own prices. Some studios/artists require a deposit. Some artists don’t allow for drastic changes to your design on the day of your appointment or charge if there are changes. Some artists don’t tattoo on certain places of the body. There are many different situations so just BE SURE to research your studio and artist before hand.

3) Always eat before your appointment! I’m not one to faint but I always make sure I eat something before getting a tattoo. Also as important is staying hydrated.

4) Don’t be afraid to take a break. Like I mentioned above, while getting tattooed, it can be irritating and annoying. There is no harm in taking a small break…even to eat something.

5) Make your day free. This is a personal choice I make when getting a tattoo done. Sometimes you need to travel a distance to get to your appointment or your appointment takes longer than anticipated. We don’t need anyone speeding now. Also your tattoo is like an open wound. Of course your tattoo will be covered up or bandaged so don’t expose it to stress so that it gets irritated. This will aid in the healing process and overall outcome of your tattoo.
