5 Easy Ways of Becoming More Sustainable & Eco-Friendly

becoming more eco-friendly and sustainable is one of my 2020 goals.

Some of these practices I’ve already started in 2019 and I’ve carried over into 2020. They are super easy to obtain and every little help makes a difference. You feel better about yourself for helping the environment and even if you influence ONE person to follow you, that’s making a difference.

A majority of these products can be found on Amazon so be sure check them out because I know you have an Amazon account.

Re-usable Cups / Mugs & Bottles

This is a great example of one person being influenced by another. I follow a lovely lady by the name Weylie Hoang. She is a Youtube and Instagram influencer. She shared this collapsable travel cup one day and I thought it was just amazing. It’s truly perfect for the on-the-go drinker because it collapses and you can tuck it away in your bag so you don’t have to worry about carrying around an empty travel mug!

There’s an abundance of travel bottle and mugs out there. You just gotta choose your favourite! Some of my favourite brands are S’well and Stojo but there are soooo many other wonderful brands out there. I have bottles from Lolë, Lululemon and Home Sense. Starbucks offers beautiful ceramic travel mugs and many more travel bottles for everyones aesthetic.

Glass v.s. plastic

This is super easy to switch to. I love using glass containers for my lunch. It makes me feel better for putting hot food in a glass container v.s. plastic. I know plastic has come a long way from the chemicals within them but I feel like you can’t be sure at times and going the glass way is much better. Just be careful and don’t break them!

Re-usable straws

Probably one of the best changes in my life is starting to use re-usable straws. Honestly they are even helpful for drinking casually at home. I tend to drink fast and spill my drink on myself like I’m a child LOL. So drinking with a straw is very helpful.

You can also find collapsable straws to bring with you on to go! Mine don’t collapse but that’s the next thing on my list.

Re-usable produce bags

Okay. Think about it. You know those thin little bags you but your fruits and veggies in at the grocery store? You bring you stuff home and some fruits and veggies you use right away and through away the bag…how horrible right? When you really think about it, it’s SUCH a waste to use that thin plastic bag.

Switch to using re-usable produce bags! There’s so many different brands and options with different sizes. I got mine on Amazon!

re-usable grocery bags

I know you have a Lululemon bag somewhere in your house or a free tote you got at a trade show one day. I’m sure everyone has a bag of some sorts in their house or car. So why not use it to carry your groceries out?! You already have it so why not use them. You’ll also save the $0.05 charge at the store. Mine are from Forever 21 (may they rest in pease) & a boutique shop in Tulum, Mexico.
