Diary: Reflecting on 2020 & Sharing My 2021 New Years Resolutions | Let's Start Again Shall We

Let’s reflect. . .

WOW what a year! I mean…who would of known right. 2020 was a year! But I’m not totally mad about it to be honest. 2020 brought a lot of change and development into my life. Being on Temporary layoff since March 2020, I literally had all the free time in the world! I was able to get my kitchen done and Fully renovate the downstairs living portion! Like honestly if I was working, that would of taken twice the amount of time and energy. Also, the fact of living on a “normal” schedule - and not going to bed at 3am and waking up at 11am - felt amazing. I also got back into yoga during the heat of summer that felt so good! Doing yoga outside in the heat is the perfect situation.

It has been 10 months since I’ve worked. I have never been off work for this long in my life. I’ve never gone without a pay check or daily tips for this long. This honestly is the hardest part for me during the Pandemic. I am SO BLESSED that this is truly the only down side for me. I am thankful to have my Mommy by my side through this. I am thankful to be healthy and cozy in my new home. By the way the first year in our new home went by SO FAST!

Now it is what it is. I’d like to start focusing on the new year - 2021. BRING IT ON!

mind

Continue to meditate: I did start really meditating this year. Legit off my phone (except it playing the meditation music), incense going, comfy position, the whole deal. I felt like I was too “tired/lazy” to do it. Why Kat?! Like I just need to push myself again. It can literally take 5, 10 or 15 minutes! It’s really not that hard to squeeze into my current routine. I’m going to try and do this once a week to start and go from there.

Pull out an affirmation card once a month: I started doing this a couple of months ago and then I feel off. I think it’s because I was doing it once a week and feeling like it was too much. But I want to get into the habit of pulling these card whenever I need a slight pick me up or reminder in life. I also really enjoyed sharing these cards on social media and want to continue to do this.

Read more: Honestly, this is always on my resolution list because I never reach it. I’ve bought so many new books this year and want even more but have yet to read any of them! Like I could kick my self. I think I’m going to make a GOAL LIST of books to read. I am a slow reader so even if it’s 5 I’ll be happy LOL. Okay I’m doing ti a documenting it some how.

Listen to more podcasts: Honestly I really got into podcasts this year and it just feels like you’re listening to your favourite radio show. I love them and you can learn so much random information from them as well!

body

Do more flow & muscle toning: Okay seriously though. . . I have gained COVID weight for sure. During the summer of 2020, I did attend many yoga classes outdoors that I absolutely loved doing. I fell off course when the weather got colder and the fact that classes elsewhere can be sparse because of the current situation of the world. This year I will find my own flow! Even just stretching every single day in different ways to keep up with my flexibility (and then one day return to classes). I also need to loose a few pounds but mostly get rid of a little flab and tone my muscles. I honestly feel so much weaker than I did a few years ago and I’m not impressed with myself. I DO NOT mind being thicker and curvier but I do want to flatten the tummy and tone the arms.

Grow the tattoo collection: I was very fortunate to treat myself in February 2020 for my birthday with 2 new tattoos but since then, tattoo studios have been open and closed a few times. I’m hoping some time in 2021 I can grab a seat to get tatted once again! I really want a small red heart on my inner pinky. . .just saying.

Going natural & clean: This pertains to both inside and outside the body. I really want to start using more natural products on my body as well as what I put into my body. I love all foods so I find it hard to give up certain foods. I’ll start small and get better!

More self pampering: I want to do more masks, more at home mani/pedis. I actually really enjoy doing my nails! Maybe I’ll get a gel nail kit so I can do a spa day at home!

soul

Go on a trip: If the world allows me to that is. I’m longing for some tropical air, sun & water. Also exploring places I’ve never seen before! I just want to see so much and this pandemic has stopped me from doing so. Poop on it!

Exploring more recipes: This is always on my list of things to do but I find there’s so many new finds out there that it’s hard to do them all! Cooking is something that makes me happy and being happy is good for the soul.

Get creative: I love being creative and I could kick myself with not doing more crafts this year. As well as doing more crafts and putting them out there! I really want to make an art piece for my living room. As well as a shelving situation for my dining room (this room needs a lot of work). There’s also of course my blog! I love getting digitally creative, although it is hard at times.

Alone time but also with company: I really enjoy alone time but I also enjoy catching up with friends or just simply chilling amongst my people. Although it may be hard right now to have bigger gatherings, I hope it’ll be able to happen at some point this year.
